i've been on tumblr since 2008.
i was aware of Homestuck and its absurdity from the beginning and at its peak on October 25th 2011. Didn't really understand what was going on, but that was okay. i didn't hold any scorn or disgust against the homestucks no more than the Superwholocks and that TangledBraveHow to Train Your Dragon shenanigans. i did attempt to read it, i believe i stopped reading even before John's first conversation with Dave. Webcomic?? You want me to read a page of text?? That's not a "comic".
i remember in spring 2012 at my local anime convention i shared an elevator with a few gray painted cosplayers, while i didn't know the trolls by name, i did by symbol so a Capricorn(Gamzee), Cancer(Karkat) and Libra(Terezi). i had a friend at the convention pissing and moaning every time we came across Homestuck cosplayers "ThIS ISN'T ANIME!! OH IT'S SO STUPID"
They hated homestuck because an ex of theirs "became a homestuck". One who skipped the earlier Acts just to get to the trolls.
Anyways tangent aside, i'm in the elevator with these cosplayers and they complimented my cosplay, and i brought up how i hadn't made the commitment yet of reading.
All three unanimously said "Don't skip the Acts! Read from the beginning!"
Flash forward almost a year later and i'm in a deep depressive state, having financially lost my childhood home and living with a friend.
To pass the time i basically binged so much media. I remember after seeing so many Hannibal photosets i joked:
And so my Homestuck adventure began.
(I remember promising that i wouldn't flood my dash with liveblogging reactions)
It took me 22 days to catch up to page 6342
And i was an avid reader up until the end there in 2016. Got my Boyfriend into reading and listening to the VOXUS fandub. While i never donated to the infamous Kickstarter. i bought Hiveswap when it came out in 2017.
Took the Extended Zodiac Test and that's how Hejazi got her start...
While i have never been active with the fandom on tumblr or twitter i have always been paying attention.
Namco High. The What Pumpkin startup and closure. TheOddGentleman. The Viz buyout. Friendsim and Pesterquest through the Epilouges. Homestuck^2 and its…hiatus. The death of Flash. The Sarah Z debacle. DClussie and Psycholonials. Viz ending it's print of the books. Requiem Cafe to Homestuck2's return in late 2023.
Downloaded the Unoffical Homestuck Collection. i started listening to various podcasts, i keep up with various fanadventures and youtuber analysis videos. When i can't sleep i read the TVtropes page…
i guess...Homestuck has meant a lot to me these last 11yrs.
